Sighting

Please fill out the form as completely as possible. Precise date and location information is most important. Use the 'add another sighting' button at the bottom to provide information about each species seen or each sighting date. Thanks for participating!

Use common or scientific name
Please give an address, specific location directions or latitude/longitude coordinates
Use 'sunlight' for day-flying moths, other choices for nocturnal moths
Use as many categories as needed to describe the landscape within a one mile radius of the moth’s location
List only the plants that are known to be host plants for the species you are reporting (host plants on website, linked to moth species name). Only list a plant if an entire population of the plant can be found within a one mile radius of the moth’s location
Photos of any of the target species are encouraged. A photo must be submitted for the following species to assure correct identification: Promethea, Imperial, Orange-striped oakworm, Pink-striped oakworm, Columbia, Tuliptree

Any other pertinent information you might have (e.g. air temperature, moon phase, cloud cover, sex of moth, other observations)
Please indicate below if you would allow permission for the latitude/longitude coordinates (not the address) of your location to be used in creating a Google map of moth sightings for the Project Silkmoth website. Only the moth name, sighting date and lat/long coordinates will be put on the Google Map
