The Paul Smith’s College Institute of Forestry is a leading center for sustainable forest management.
We are dedicated to fostering a collaborative research community, supporting faculty-led projects, and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration.
Our focus is on conducting innovative research that addresses critical issues facing the forest industry, while providing students with valuable hands-on learning experiences.
Student opportunities include working with faculty members on research projects, exploring employment opportunities such as research assistantships and field technician roles, and actively participating in forest management activities like tree planting, timber harvesting, and wildlife surveys.
We partner with the forest industry, other academic institutions, conservation organizations, state and federal agencies to achieve our mission.
