Paul Smith’s College is proud to welcome Bernie Gracy and Jim McKenna to its Board of Trustees, further strengthening the institution’s leadership with their expertise and commitment to advancing the college’s mission.

We are thrilled to welcome Bernie and Jim to our Board of Trustees,” said Dan Kelting, PhD, President of Paul Smith’s College. “Their strategic insight and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to align our programs with workforce demands, strengthen our financial sustainability, and enhance our impact on the region. Their expertise will help us drive innovation while staying true to our mission of hands-on, experiential education.

bernie gracyBernie Gracy brings extensive experience in digital transformation and technology leadership. He serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Digital Officer at Monotype Imaging, Inc., where he oversees digital strategy and innovation. Previously, Gracy held senior leadership roles at Agero Inc., Cimpress N.V., and Pitney Bowes, focusing on business development and digital commerce. A proud Paul Smith’s College alum, Gracy holds multiple advanced degrees, including a Master’s in Natural Resources Conservation Management from the College.

“Paul Smith’s College shaped my perspective on the intersection of AI, graduate education, and the characterization of complex lake ecosystems,” said Gracy. “I am honored to give back to an institution that has been instrumental in my journey and continues to inspire the next generation of environmental leaders.”

jim mckenna Jim McKenna, a respected leader in regional economic development, is the CEO and Vice-Chair of the Henry Uihlein II and Mildred A. Uihlein Foundation Trust, which champions land conservation and sustainable community initiatives in the Adirondacks. Previously, he served as CEO of the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism (ROOST), where he played a critical role in strengthening tourism and economic growth in the region. McKenna is the Co-Chair of New York State’s North Country Regional Economic Development Council.
